The Final Frontier

"We'll take the cake with the red cherry on top", "The ball whizzes past like a bumble -bee and the Indians are in the sea", "Nobody travels on the road to success without a puncture or two"..........and it goes on and on...every channel you switch to...48 matches, 14teams and it all boils down to this. The final. India up against Sri Lanka to claim bragging rights as World Champions. The hype is unprecedented, the expectations immense, a match made in GOD's backyard, you'd expect special things from Sachin Tendulkar. But then, you always do. The legacy of the man commands respect and also, burdens him with the hopes of a billion hearts, urging him on to newer levels of greatness. But its not just him.. India's fabled batting line-up, the stuff of many a bowlers nightmare, has to click. The fielding and bowling may have been the teams Achilles Heel in recent past, but no more as they display a ruthlessness never seen before. A sign that the occasion and the expectations has got to none. Pressure felt is not shown. And when the 11 proud men walk out to the centre to a roar of 50,000 fans and with the good wishes of a billion people glued to their TV screens, it will be with the swagger of lions, ready to conquer new heights and scale down the highest summits of human capability. Beware Sri Lanka. You're up against 11 men who are ready to shed blood, sweat and blue!!
